Air Purifier Room Size Calculator for Baby Nursery

Enter your room dimensions to find the minimum CADR you need — based on AHAM's 4.8 air changes per hour standard.

Your baby's nursery deserves extra air quality attention. Infants breathe faster than adults (30–60 breaths per minute vs 12–20), meaning they inhale proportionally more airborne irritants — dust, VOCs from new furniture, off-gassing from crib mattresses, and pet dander.

Most nurseries are small (10×10 to 12×12 ft), so the CADR requirement is modest — typically 65–93 CFM. But here's the catch: the purifier must be whisper-quiet. Babies are light sleepers, and a machine that clicks, hums, or whirs above 30 dB will disrupt sleep.

Use the calculator below for sizing, then prioritize units rated below 25 dB on their lowest setting. Also avoid ozone-generating purifiers (ionizers, UV-C without proper sealing) in nurseries — ozone is a lung irritant, especially dangerous for developing respiratory systems.
